Residents of the villages of Alyan in the countryside of Çil Agha renewed their demands for the physical freedom of leader Abdullah Ocalan, in conjunction with the approaching anniversary of his birth. They stressed that his thought and philosophy have served as a starting point for the Kurdish people’s struggle toward freedom, noting that continuing the struggle along his path is the way to achieve justice and the rights of peoples. Reflecting a political shift, intellectual and Kurdish literature teacher Bashir Mala Nawaf indicated that the messages emerging from Newroz 2026 carried important meanings and reinforced the choice of peace and a democratic society as a fundamental path. He emphasized that Kurdish unity has become a historic opportunity that must be seized, adding that the current phase requires strengthening democratic integration as the only solution amid ongoing challenges and the need to unify the Kurdish stance across all parts of Kurdistan. Syrian Kurdish writer Asim Amin believes that Syria is experiencing a fragile and complex reality, where the rights of religious and ethnic components face an existential threat due to the absence of transitional justice and the rise of hate speech. He affirmed that political and social stability cannot be achieved without accountability for the past and the establishment of a comprehensive constitution that guarantees equal citizenship and breaks the cycle of violence and exclusion.
