Today marks the 10th anniversary of the Western Neighbourhood massacre in Qamishlo, carried out by ISIS mercenaries through a truck bombing on one of the city's busiest streets, killing 62 people and injuring 177 others. A decade later, the massacre remains deeply etched in the memories of residents, while locals continue rebuilding the area as a testament to life's triumph over terrorism. Despite losing all of his beehives due to years of drought, beekeeper Ramadan Misto Rasul, from Shabak village in the Jal Agha countryside, has resumed the profession he inherited from his ancestors, believing beekeeping is an integral part of the region's agricultural heritage. Homs' fisheries sector requires a comprehensive rescue plan combining the protection of water resources, support for fish farmers, and investment in fish-production infrastructure to prevent further decline in one of the province's key food sectors.

National figures from the various communities of Kirki Laki stressed that certain parties are attempting to incite strife among the region's residents and undermine security and stability. On 27 July 2016, martyr Polat Herkol was not merely another victim of the Western Neighbourhood massacre in Qamishlo. He was one of the most prominent activists who spent three decades in various fields of struggle—from the mountains to prisons, and from grassroots organising to diplomacy—while remaining committed to the cause he embraced in his youth. 1,350 displaced families from Shahba, forced to leave their homes during the years 2013, 2018, and 2024 and currently residing in the Jazira and Kobani regions, are demanding a safe return to their homes. (Photos and video attached).
