An international law researcher affirmed that crimes and violations in Syria are continuing despite the political changes that have taken place, stressing the need for international documentation, accountability for perpetrators, activation of transitional justice, and an end to the policy of impunity.

A Kurdish politician from North Kurdistan stated that the call of leader Abdullah Ocalan paved the way toward peace and democracy and halted the war machine in the region, adding that the Turkish state’s procrastination in implementing the process raises concern.

Kurdish tribes in Rojava called for Kurdish unity as a priority to confront current challenges and protect rights, emphasizing the importance of closing ranks and strengthening understanding among the various components at this stage. (Attached photos and video)

Syria is facing a real threat represented by weak water resources due to internal factors amid the absence of government attention, as well as external factors resulting from the control of certain countries—particularly Turkey—over the sources of these resources. Observers believe that Turkey is pursuing a dual-track approach in the peace process with the Kurds.

On March 1, 2013, while the Syrian arena was ablaze with events and only months after the launch of the July 19 Revolution (2012) in Rojava, Hawar News Agency, known as ANHA, was launched at a pivotal moment in the region’s history to be a voice of truth against disinformation campaigns and a platform conveying facts from primary sources to society. This came at a time when dominant powers employed the latest technologies and media tools to obscure facts, spread false news, attempt to eliminate diversity and pluralism, and silence the voices of peoples.

Intellectuals from the city of Tel Tamr affirmed that supporting the peace process launched by leader Abdullah Öcalan represents a national and moral responsibility, stressing that his recent message is the practical path to ending prolonged violence, especially after denial policies that historically pushed the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) into a forced conflict.
