Bafel Talabani emphasizes need to maintain unity in S Kurdistan

Bafel Talabani stressed the importance of maintaining unity in southern Kurdistan in light of the events unfolding in Iran, noting that communication continues with all Iraqi and Kurdish parties, especially the Kurdistan Democratic Party, to focus efforts on defending the citizens of the Kurdistan Region and protecting them from these dangers.

In a statement carried by Roj News Agency, the President of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK), Bafel Jalal Talabani, addressed the people of Southern Kurdistan in light of the escalating military tensions between the United States and Israel on one side and Iran on the other. Talabani emphasized the importance of internal unity and coordination with Iraqi and Kurdish political forces to protect citizens and ensure stability.

The statement read:

"Dear citizens of the Kurdistan Region, once again we face grave dangers. I am confident, as always, that you will remain strong, steadfast, and united.

To maintain this crucial unity, we are in constant contact with all Iraqi and Kurdish parties, especially the Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP), to dedicate all our efforts to defend the citizens of the Kurdistan Region and protecting them from these dangers.

The United States and Israel have launched a full-scale war against Iran by targeting its military and missile sites and the homes of its leaders, while Iran has retaliated by targeting US bases in the region and Erbil in Iraq."
