Today, Southern Kurdistan witnessed a symbolic and practical ceremony carried out by fighters of the Kurdish Liberation Movement in response to the latest call by Leader Abdullah Ocalan. In his call, Leader Ocalan urged the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) and armed forces to engage in politics and move away from armed struggle, under the banner of “peace and democratic society.”

As part of the ceremony, a group of Kurdish Liberation Movement fighters delivered a public statement, laid down their weapons, and destroyed them in front of cameras and dozens of politicians, intellectuals, and civil society activists, marking a symbolic gesture and goodwill initiative toward a peaceful political solution.

The ceremony concluded a short while ago, with the fighters returning to their positions without weapons. The delegations that attended the event have begun their journey back to Hawler and Sulaymaniyah, from where they had set out.
