This came during a statement issued by the Future Syria Party, on the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the March 12 Uprising, which reads:

“March 12 this year marks the 20 anniversary of the uprising of the Kurdish people against the tyrannical and tyrannical authorities in Syria, the first spark of which came from the city of Qamishlo in the far north-east of the country, after the Syrian security forces targeted fans of the football club with live bullets, It later spread to most regions, all the way to the capital, Damascus, and peacefully called for change, democracy, and legitimate rights for an authentic component of the Syrian people.

The Syrian authorities confronted the peaceful masses with violence and killing, in addition to attempts to create strife and conflicts between the Syrian components (Arab-Kurdish strife), and their practices left dozens of martyrs and wounded and thousands of detainees, to confirm the authority’s adoption of the security and military option in dealing with national issues and peaceful and urgent popular demands.

The March 12 uprising formed; A turning point and a serious and new start for the peaceful struggle of the Kurds and the general Syrian people in the face of the machine of killing and oppression that has ruled Syria for decades and continues to rule, and has cried out for peaceful change, democracy, equality, and the rejection of exclusion, exclusivity, and tyranny.

As we recall this occasion, which constituted the beginning of the popular uprising in Syria against oppression, tyranny, and the erosion of rights, and revealed the true and criminal face of the authoritarian regime, we express our condolences to all the martyrs who died in March 2004 and all the martyrs of the Syrian revolution that began in 2011.

On this occasion, we affirm our commitment to a peaceful solution to the Syrian crisis and the implementation of international resolutions, especially Resolution 2254.

We promise our martyrs and our people in Syria in general, and in NE Syria in particular, to follow the path of the martyrs of March 12, the uprising that formed the basis for reaching a democratic, pluralistic Syria without denial or exclusion, and to work to achieve stability and eliminate terrorism, return and liberate the occupied areas, and unify Syria’s land and people.”
