Four people were killed today, Wednesday, as a result of an exchange of strikes between Russia and Ukraine, marking a continued escalation of the conflict between the two sides.

Ukrainian authorities announced via the Telegram app that two people were killed in Russian attacks targeting areas in the south and east of the country. A man was killed in the Zaporizhzhia region following a strike on transport infrastructure, while another civilian was killed in the Kharkiv province as a result of a drone strike.

Conversely, Russian authorities reported the deaths of a woman and a child in a Ukrainian drone attack targeting the city of Syzran in the Samara region, noting that the two victims were recovered from beneath the rubble of a damaged building.

This escalation comes against the backdrop of ongoing confrontations since the outbreak of the war in February 2022, with mutual strikes continuing and civilian casualties mounting on both sides, at a time when diplomatic efforts remain at a standstill.
