Families of Syrian detainees protest in Quneitra

Families of Syrian detainees held in Israeli prisons held a protest today outside the headquarters of the United Nations Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF) in Nab' al-Fawwar village in the northern Quneitra countryside.

Relatives of detainees from Quneitra, Daraa and the western Damascus countryside took part in the protest, holding up photos of their relatives and banners calling for information about their conditions and detention circumstances and demanding their release.

The protesters called on the United Nations, international organizations and human rights bodies to assume their responsibilities regarding the detainees, work to determine their fate and ensure their human and legal rights.

The protest comes amid the continued detention of a number of Syrians by Israel, with their families repeatedly calling for international intervention to shed light on their conditions and help secure their release.

Families of Syrian detainees have previously held similar protests in front of the UNDOF headquarters in the Quneitra countryside, calling for international action on the detainees’ issue.
