End of the school year in NE, Syria

The current academic year has witnessed intensive efforts by educational and administrative staff to ensure the continuity of the educational process and provide a suitable learning environment for students, despite the challenges the region may face.

The number of students who passed the final exams reached approximately 900,000 students.

Thousands of students were able to complete their courses and pass the final exams successfully, achieving an important step in their educational journey.

However, there are 40,000 students in Raqqa Canton who have not taken their final exams, as their schools are being used as shelters for displaced people from Afrin and al-Shahba Cantons.

 The Education Authority in Raqqa Canton is working to compensate for the educational loss of these students who have dropped out in the coming days.

The school year began on September 1, and the first semester ended on January 2, 2025. The second semester began on January 15 and ended on May 15.

The educational system in North and East Syria is based on four stages: kindergarten (preparatory), primary, middle, secondary, and higher education. The curriculum of the Autonomous Administration is taught in these stages, taking into account the specificities of each component.

The curricula are based on the three official languages ​​of North and East Syria: Arabic, Kurdish, and Syriac, and each component studies its mother tongue.
