Election of People's Assembly members in Hasaka, Qamishlo, Kobani concluded

The election of members for the People's Assembly in the cities of Hasaka, Qamishlo, and Kobani concluded on Sunday, following a process conducted by pre-established electoral bodies in the three cities, amid tight security measures.

In Qamishlo elections, Radwan Sayed, Abdel Halim Ali, Kim Ibrahim, and Mahmoud Madi were selected to the People's Assembly.

In Hasaka city, Ibrahim al-Habash, Omer al-Hayis, and Fasla al-Youssef were elected to represent the city.

In Kobani, Ferhad Anwar Shahin was elected to the city's people's Assembly membership, while Shawakh Ibrahim al-Assaf was elected to represent the Sheikhlar district.

The People's Assembly currently comprises 210 members, 70 of whom are appointed by the head of the Interim Government, raising questions about the nature of representation and the mechanism for forming the Assembly.

The number of electoral bodies remained limited, with 200 members in Qamishlo, 198 in Hasaka, and only 100 in Kobani. In Hasaka, 13 people ran for 3 seats, and in Qamishlo, 7 candidates ran for 4 seats, while 2 representatives were chosen in Derik without elections, and a former member was appointed from Serê Kaniyê (Ras al-Ayn), while in Kobani, 11 people were nominated for only 2 seats.
