Vigil in Sweida demands to hold exams in governorate

A protest was held in Sweida on Sunday in front of the Teachers' Syndicate building, rejecting the decision to move exam centers to Damascus and demanding that the secondary school certificate exams be held within the province to spare more than 13,000 students the burdens of travel and the difficult security and living conditions.

A protest was held on Sunday in Sweida city in front of the Teachers' Syndicate building, demanding that the basic and secondary education certificate exams be held within the governorate. This would allow more than 13,000 students to take the exams without having to travel outside the governorate, as stipulated in the relevant decision.

Students, parents, and teachers participated in the protest, calling on the relevant authorities to rescind the decision to move the exam centers to Damascus. They emphasized that this imposes financial, logistical, and security burdens on families and students under the current circumstances.

The protesters called on the United Nations and international organizations; UNESCO and UNICEF, to intervene urgently to return the exam centers to Sweida, pointing out that holding the exams within the governorate would ensure greater fairness for students and alleviate the pressure on them.
