The house of the President of the Kurdistan Region, Nechirvan Barzani, was attacked today by a booby-trapped drone in Duhok, as part of a series of attacks targeting areas in the region in recent hours.

Iraqi security sources stated that a drone crashed near Barzani's house, causing an explosion and a fire, while air defenses managed to shoot down another drone before it reached its target.

For his part, Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani condemned the attack, emphasizing during a phone call with Barzani the government's rejection of the brutal assault and stressing the need to maintain security and stability in the country.

Al-Sudani directed the formation of a joint security and technical team from the federal government and the Kurdistan Regional Government to investigate the incident, identify the perpetrators, and take legal action against them, while emphasizing the need to prevent any internal or external party from dragging Iraq into the ongoing conflict in the region.
