Displaced Afrin Women call for end to occupation, safe return

As the Turkish occupation state and mercenaries' crimes and atrocities against the people of Afrin keep going on, the voices of forcibly displaced women in the canton are growing louder, calling for human rights and international organizations to take immediate action to end the daily crimes and to secure the safe return of the people back to their towns.

Mustafa Jamil Sheikho, a young man, was killed while on guard duty for his family's solar panels is a graphic illustration of the vast magnitude of the quotidian violence that is visited upon the inhabitants of occupied Afrin.

Arifa Habash, Afrin displaced woman residing in Raqqa currently, spoke of ongoing crimes of murder, kidnapping, and robbery, stating, "The occupying state of Turks and their mercenaries keep perpetrating crimes nonstop. Civilians are being arrested and then released for financial sums, and robbery and detention by force continue."

Arifa Habash called for international organizations, first and foremost UNICEF, to stop these atrocities and return Afrin people home safely.

Sabah Muhammad, Afrin displaced woman, emphasized the need to end the occupation and ensure the return of citizens under the protection of forces. She explained that the assassination of Mustafa Jamil Sheikho is an example of crimes committed by the occupation, emphasizing the need for the international community to intervene to end such crimes.

On her behalf, Ferial Rasho, an Afrin displaced woman, said that the atrocities of the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries have been targeting everyone indiscriminately, mentioning the massacres, looting, and burning homes. She called for urgent intervention by international institutions to stop these atrocities and enable the safe return of the displaced people to their territories.
