Democratic Syria Youth Council elects Co-Chairs at third conference

The third conference of the Democratic Syria Youth Council was launched in Raqqa under the slogan: “Youth: Vanguard of Change and Unity… For Building a Pluralistic, Decentralized Democratic Syria.”

The conference was attended by representatives of youth, political, and societal bodies in NE Syria, alongside delegations from political parties.

The conference began with a moment of silence in honor of the martyrs, followed by an address from the co-chair of the Democratic Syria Council, Layla Qarahman, highlighting the importance of youth and women’s participation in building Syria’s future.

The conference discussed the internal regulations of the Democratic Syria Youth Council and its organizational situation, covering the council’s structure, objectives, membership criteria, and the role of youth in promoting political and social participation. It also evaluated the council’s performance during the previous period and elected new leadership bodies, reinforcing the principles of pluralism and decentralization as a comprehensive national option.

Suleiman Nabhan and Nadia Youssef were elected as co-chairs of the Democratic Syria Youth Council.

The conference concluded with a set of recommendations, read by the council’s co-chair, Suleiman Nabhan:

- Upholding the unity of Democratic Syria and its political framework.

- Ensuring ethnic and religious neutrality through a democratic constitution that guarantees rights and freedoms.

- Commitment to the inclusive Syrian national identity, enriched by diversity, connected to its cultures, and based on democracy, secularism, and social justice.

- Strengthening the principle of co-presidency at all organizational levels and consolidating equitable, free practices in organizational work.

- Empowering young women and safeguarding their autonomy, recognizing women as a key organizational and political reference within the council.

- Combating totalitarian mindsets, capitalist modernity, and all forms of occupation, genocide, and sexual, ethnic, or religious discrimination.

-Building an ethical political society that rejects patriarchy and male-dominated systems.

-Enhancing relations with Syrian youth domestically and abroad.

- Activating the Relations Office as a driving force for internal and international coordination and communication.
