Democratic Society Movement calls for participation in May 1 activities

Today, through a statement, the Democratic Society Movement congratulated the toilers and workers in the world and the entire Middle East, especially the toilers and workers of NE Syria region, on the occasion of the first of May.

The Democratic Society Movement’s statement said: “On the occasion of the 136th anniversary of May 1, the International Day of the Workers and Toilers of the World, and on this occasion we first extend our congratulations to the great toiling leader Abdullah Ocalan, and to all the workers and toilers around the world and the toiling and struggling peoples in NE Syria region.

Whereas the toilers segment in the world is considered the largest and most broad ethical and professional segment of society, which struggles willingly and continuously against all forms of discrimination and policies of violence and extermination practiced by capitalist powers and authoritarian regimes.

Its spark began in the American city of Chicago, and from there it expanded to most cities and capitals of the world, demanding their rights in order to achieve equality, social justice, and live in dignity to build a better life.

Today's global solidarity campaigns for the physical freedom of leader Apo and a solution to the Kurdish issue stem from the legacy of leader Apo's modern resistance, which revived the spirit of strength of the toilers and workers of the region and the world again, through the project of building a democratic nation.

We, in TEV-DEM, first invite all bodies, institutions, unions, community and cultural organizations to participate in the celebrations of May 1st, to congratulate together this international day and to renew with this historic day our demands for the freedom of the toiling resistance leader, Abdullah Ocalan.

We also affirm our support and assistance to all those working and struggling to achieve their legitimate and just rights towards building a free democratic society.”
