DAA boosts Hasaka Municipality fleet with 20 vehicles

The Democratic Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria provided 20 trucks for waste collection (compactors) and sewage services, in addition to service vehicles to support the work of the municipality, to the People's Municipality in Hasaka, Jazira Canton.

The vehicles delivered to the municipality included: 8 dump trucks, 6 waste compactors, 2 Terex loaders, 2 tankers, and 2 Bobcats.

In this context, the People's Municipality in Hasaka issued a statement today regarding the reception of the vehicles, at the city’s asphalt plant near the Panorama Roundabout in the Ghweiran neighborhood.

Majid Ismail, the co-chair of the People's Municipality in Hasaka, said during the statement: “Due to the repeated breakdowns and deterioration of the old municipal vehicles, coordination was made between the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria and the People’s Municipality in Hasaka to purchase these vehicles, given the city's urgent need for them across various sectors, especially engineering and sanitation.”

He added: “These vehicles have been put into service for the People’s Municipality of Hasaka to address any shortcomings in the municipality’s work, particularly in sanitation.”

He emphasized that the purpose of acquiring these vehicles is to develop the city and maintain its cleanliness in service of the people, continuing: “The coming days will be full of prosperity, and we will witness remarkable and distinctive development in the city.”

Majid Ismail also called on the residents of Hasaka to support the municipality and adhere to the schedule of the sanitation vehicles, urging them not to throw garbage in the neighborhoods.

For his part, Farouq Tozo, co-chair of the Hasakah City Council, said: “We thank the People's Municipality in Hasaka for purchasing these vehicles, which were acquired to serve the city, develop it, and preserve its cleanliness.”

He explained that: “After the fall of the Ba’athist regime, the scope of the municipality's work expanded. Due to the previous shortage of vehicles, there were obstacles to cleaning all neighborhoods. But with the acquisition of these new vehicles, those obstacles no longer exist.”

It is worth noting that the city of Hasaka had recently suffered from widespread garbage accumulation due to the lack of sufficient sanitation vehicles and the inability to cover all neighborhoods.

On July 24th, the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria delivered seven new waste collection trucks (compactors) to strengthen the work of municipalities in the Jazira Canton. Four of the vehicles were allocated to Qamishlo Municipality and three to Hasaka Municipality, as part of ongoing efforts to improve municipal services and hygiene standards in the region.
