Conference of Kurdish women parliamentarians continues on 2nd day

Under the slogan “Let’s democratize politics, let’s build a democratic society,” the first conference of Kurdish women parliamentarians, organized by the Free Women's Movement, continues in the city of Amed, North Kurdistan. The event is being held over Wednesday and Thursday, with the participation of several Kurdish women parliamentarians from Kurdistan, the Middle East, and Europe.

Banners in three languages (Kurdish, Turkish, and Arabic) were displayed on the conference stage, reading “Women lead democratic politics, build democratic society,” alongside slogans such as “Women, Life, Freedom,” “A free society begins with a free woman,” and “If women are liberated, society is liberated,” according to Xwebûn newspaper.

Many women attended the conference wearing traditional and national Kurdish clothing.

On the second day of the conference, the activities continued through workshops (Atölye), including:

Sakine Cansiz Workshop

Topic: Confronting authoritarian male politics, organizational challenges for parliamentarians in developing democratic politics, and proposed solutions.

Layla Qasim Workshop

Topic: The role and policies of women parliamentarians in the issue of national unity.

Hevrin Khalaf Workshop

Topic: Protecting women from violence, combating gender-based discrimination, and collective struggle.

Mina Qazi Workshop

Topic: The impact of women's political representation in diverse societies on social peace and political democracy.

In the second half of the day, the conference’s final statement will be announced based on the recommendations put forth by the various workshops.
