Commander in HPG: new decisive phase ahead for Kurds' future

As part of ongoing coverage of the 12th Congress of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), Firat News Agency published the speech delivered by HPG commander Irfan Amed.

Amed began his speech by saluting the resistance of Leader Abdullah Ocalan and remembering the martyrs of the revolution, renewing the pledge he made to the leader and the martyrs. He stressed that the congress comes at a difficult and delicate time, but also marks a new phase through which the party’s future will be shaped.

He emphasized that the primary goal is to build strength until the leader’s freedom is achieved, praising the magnitude of the step taken by the leader. He noted that this decision by the party is not an end, but the beginning of a new stage, and that the movement is now confidently stepping into it, committed to the leader's path and guidance.

Amed stated that the leader’s evaluation of the PKK and the issue of armed struggle reflects his vision of what the next phase requires. He added that the leader's steps carry historical significance both ideologically and socially, and represent a major advancement for the Kurdish people's cause.

He pointed out that the leader’s vision and struggle have gained global recognition, which requires everyone to engage seriously in this new phase. He also clarified that while decisions were made during the congress, achieving a real solution to the Kurdish issue requires the state to take serious constitutional and legal steps, starting with an official declaration of no longer opposing the Kurdish cause.

Amed concluded his speech by expressing his full confidence in the leader, saying: “We have never hesitated, and we will not hesitate in the future. If the leader takes a step, we will stand by him under all circumstances to ensure its success. On this basis, I wish all my comrades success in this critical phase.”
