NADA Alliance to hold 1st conference in Sulaymaniyah tomorrow

The regional democratic women's alliance in the Middle East and North Africa, known by its acronym NADA, will hold its first conference tomorrow, Thursday, in Sulaymaniyah, spanning over three days.

The conference will focus on the central role of women leaders in struggles for democracy and freedom at the regional level, through extensive discussions and interactive workshops.

The Sulaymaniyah Conference represents a continuation of a historical journey that highlights the pioneering role of women in shaping a just democratic future for the region.

Previously, the Free Democratic Women's Movement held the first Middle East and North Africa Women's Conference from May 31 to June 2 in the city of Amed in North Kurdistan, with the participation of 250 representatives from 26 countries across the Middle East, North Africa, and the Arab world.

The Initiative for Security, Peace, and the Struggle Against Occupation and Femicide also organized the second Middle East and North Africa Women's Conference on July 30–31, 2021, in the Lebanese capital Beirut, under the slogan "With Women's Unity, We Will Achieve the Democratic Revolution."

This conference marked a significant turning point in the struggle of the region's women, as it led to the formation of the “Regional Democratic Women's Alliance in the Middle East and North Africa” (NADA), intended to serve as a unifying framework for women's struggles for democracy, freedom, and social justice across the region.

Program of the First NADA Alliance Conference (May 15–18):

Day 1 – May 15: Theoretical discussions

Opening speeches and a visual presentation

First session: The third world war – the hidden genocide against women

Second session: The legacy of women’s struggles in the region

Cultural evening (Middle East and North Africa)

Day 2 – May 16: Practical discussions and solutions

Third session: Women’s joint work – challenges and opportunities

Fourth session: Women’s struggle against the policies of the third world war

Cultural evening (The Four Parts of Kurdistan)

Day 3 – May 17: Organizational conference

Evaluation of the alliance’s performance, discussion of strategic documents

Discussion of future plans up to the second conference

Elections and final statement

Cultural evening (opera and dance)

Day 4 – May 18 (optional):
