Civil Organizations condemn Umm al-Tinah Massacre, hold Transitional Govt responsible

The Kurdish Women’s Association – Austria, the German Organization for Development and Peace, and the Kurdish Civil Society Geostrategic Organization issued a joint written statement denouncing the atrocity.

The statement emphasized that this crime “underscores the continuation of systematic attacks against civilians in Syria, specifically targeting the most vulnerable groups, including women and children.”

It further noted that the organizations will submit documented reports to the UN Human Rights Council and the Independent International Commission of Inquiry on Syria, calling for accountability for the perpetrators and an end to the prevailing culture of impunity.

The statement stressed that “international silence in the face of such crimes constitutes implicit complicity and exacerbates the suffering of civilians.”

The organizations reaffirmed their commitment to defending civilians through peaceful and legal means, urging Syrian civil society and women’s groups to strengthen solidarity and unity in confronting these attacks. They also called on the international community to “shoulder its responsibilities and exert genuine pressure to halt such assaults and protect civilians.”

Concluding their statement, the organizations reiterated their commitment to peace and accountability efforts, affirming that they will remain “a strong voice in defense of the rights of civilians, women, and children in Syria, and in preventing the recurrence of such crimes.”
