According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, the incident occurred on the outskirts of the village of Akash in the Hama desert, within transitional government- held areas in Syria.

The Observatory noted that since the fall of the former regime on December 8, the death toll from war remnants has risen to 620 people, including 171 children and 42 women.

War remnants and military ordnance are widespread in transitional government- controlled, with no measures taken to resolve this problem or remove the danger threatening civilians’ lives.
