Citizen from S. Kurdistan aids IDPs of Afrin and Shahba

Amanj Jamal, originally from Sulaymaniyah in S. Kurdistan, arrived in the North and East Syria region at the beginning of this year to deliver the financial aid he had collected to the displaced people of occupied Afrin and Shahba Canton.

Jamal is not a stranger to the regions of Rojava and North and East Syria. He had previously delivered aid to the people of Afrin and Shahba following the February 6, 2023 earthquake that struck areas in Turkey and Syria.

He also visited North and East Syria in September last year, 2024, to provide aid to the people of Rojava within the limits of his capabilities.

Jamal launched his latest campaign to provide aid following the Turkish occupation’s attacks and its mercenaries, which displaced hundreds of thousands of residents from Afrin and Shahba to the regions of North and East Syria.

Before arriving in North and East Syria, Jamal conducted a campaign to collect aid from his friends in Britain and other parts of Kurdistan to support the displaced people of Afrin and Shahba.

After his arrival, Jamal delivered financial aid to over 1,000 families who had settled in the cities of Raqqa, Tabqa, Kobani, and Qamishlo.

In this context, Amanj Jamal spoke to ANHA agency, saying: "We witnessed the difficult conditions our people in Rojava are going through, which motivated us to provide them with financial and moral support."

Jamal emphasized that his efforts are a national duty, not just a humanitarian one. He added: "I collected aid from my friends in Britain and other parts of Kurdistan. I am happy with this work."

He continued: "Our people in Afrin and Shahba have suffered greatly and have been displaced multiple times. In truth, our people in Afrin have succeeded in introducing the world to the Kurdish cause."

He added: "Afrin has endured the harshest conditions, and you can only truly feel their struggles when you go there and see it for yourself."

Amanj Jamal praised the high morale of the displaced people, saying:

"Despite the challenges they face, they possess great strength. We were very pleased with their warm reception, and they were overjoyed that the people of South Kurdistan were providing aid to them. For our part, we expressed our immense happiness at the solidarity among the different parts of Kurdistan."

Jamal concluded by affirming that the people of South Kurdistan are keen on providing support to their fellow Kurds in other parts of Kurdistan. He revealed his intention to stay in the region for a while longer to receive new batches of aid and distribute them to the displaced.
