The Co-chairs of the Executive Council of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, Evin Sweid and Hassan Othman, along with their deputies Tarfa Othman and Hassan Kojer, welcomed the Kurdish artist Khairo Abbas to learn about the region’s experience.

The two sides discussed the current situation in Syria and the region, the challenges facing North and East Syria, and the role of art in conveying the voice of the peoples and strengthening the cultures that make up the social fabric. They also emphasized the importance of preserving artistic heritage as a fundamental pillar and a national identity.

The co-chairs presented an overview of the structure of the Autonomous Administration and its working mechanisms, highlighting the principle of fair representation for all components, teamwork, and participation. They also explained the co-presidency system and its role in reinforcing the principles of democracy and equality.

For his part, artist Khairo Abbas expressed his happiness at visiting the region and his admiration for its political and democratic experience, affirming his support for the vision aimed at building a free, democratic society founded on justice and freedom.

The visit concluded with an affirmation of the need for the region’s communities to unite in order to preserve their achievements and fulfill their democratic aspirations.

Khairo Abbas hails from a village located between Qamishlo and Tirbespiye in the North and East Syria region. He has produced many songs and is known for his strong, beautiful voice and his Western-influenced style of performing Kurdish music.
