Armed men burned a grocery store in the Karm al-Zaytoun neighborhood of Homs and looted its contents, in an attack that has heightened residents’ fears amid rising tensions and violations.

The neighborhood of Karm al-Zaytoun witnessed a state of chaos after the armed men set the store on fire and stole its goods, marking a new escalation in a series of attacks targeting locals.

According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), the attackers, most of them young men coming from a nearby area, targeted the store owned by a member of the Murshidi community, raising concerns about increasing sectarian tensions in the district.

This incident comes after two earlier grenade attacks that targeted homes in Karm al-Zaytoun within the past 24 hours, causing significant material damage but no casualties.

The SOHR explained that members of the Murshidi community are being repeatedly targeted, deepening fears of continued attacks and spreading fear among residents.
