The organizations stated that the executions in Iran included at least 10 individuals, two of whom were Afghan nationals.

The Iran Human Rights Organization reported today, Friday, January 3, that at least nine prisoners, including two Afghan citizens, were executed. They had been convicted of charges of "premeditated murder" or drug-related offenses, with the executions carried out on the morning of Wednesday, January 1, at Ghezel Hesar Prison in the city of Karaj.

The organization also reported that a prisoner named Yavar Abdoli, convicted of "premeditated murder," was executed at Dezful Prison in southern Iran on Tuesday, December 31.

The human rights organization Hengaw, citing informed sources, indicated that some of the executed prisoners were transferred from Evin and Greater Tehran prisons to Ghezel Hesar Prison for the executions.

On the other hand, political prisoners, as part of the "No to Executions Every Tuesday" campaign, have repeatedly condemned the issuance and execution of death sentences, considering them a tool used by Iranian authorities to spread fear and intimidation.

It is worth noting that the Iranian judiciary often refrains from officially announcing these executions. However, independent human rights organizations confirm that Iran ranks first globally in violating the right to life through high execution rates.
