AANES: liberation of Afrin, Serê Kaniyê and Girê Spî goal that we will not give up

The Democratic Autonomous Administration of the North and East of Syria issued today a statement to the public regarding the fifth annual occupation of the cities of Serê Kaniyê and Girê Spî, which read:

""Today, 9 October, marks the fifth anniversary of the beginning of the attack of the Turkish occupation state and its mercenaries on the cities of Serê Kaniyê and Girê Spî, through an air and ground attack, in which they used all kinds of weapons, including internationally prohibited weapons, which ultimately led to the occupation of the 2 cities.

This attack, which was the result of international deals and complicity, brings us back to all the stages in which peoples were targeted, fighting for their dignity and achieving their free aspirations. The world's compliance with Turkey's desires and conspiracy with it against our people, starting with the targeting of Afrin in 2018, and later Serê Kaniyê /Ras al-Ain and Tal Abyad/Girê Spî in 2019, is another evidence of the methodology of clear hostility to peoples, especially since our people, since the beginning of the Syrian crisis, have distanced themselves from any conflicts aimed at seizing power, but rather sought towards a historical democratic struggle through its various components to build their free and democratic will and decision.

The continuation of this occupation is a continuation of the mentality and decision of extermination, which must end, especially after the failure of all attempts to undermine the will of our people and their decision to build their democratic future, as well as it must be emphasized that this conspiracy and this deal targets all Syrians without exception, and it is an additional project to prevent the consensus of Syrians and a clear targeting of Syrian sovereignty.

On the fifth anniversary of the international complicity and the Turkish occupation of Serê Kaniyê/Ras al-Ain and Tal Abyad/Girê Spî, we affirm that we will remain with all our strength and determination alongside the struggle of our people in the NE Syria region, and we will not hesitate for a moment to defend it at all costs, and we also affirm that the liberation of Afrin, Serê Kaniyê/Ras al-Ain and Tal Abyad/Girê Spî will remain a constant goal that we will not abandon, and that the return of our displaced people to their homes with dignity and glory will be part of this struggle against the occupiers. Our strength is from the determination of our martyrs and their heroic path, and from our heroic wounded, and we remember their heroism and bow to them with all reverence.

We also affirm in the Democratic AANES, the unity of our people, their solidarity and their insistence on the democratic nation project, which constitutes the basic and important framework for achieving sustainable victory, and encircling all attempts by enemies to dominate, expand and impose projects, we appeal to all international powers support Turkey and its mercenaries to reconsider their policies, and we call on all UN, human rights and humanitarian powers to work to form an independent committee to investigate the violations and practices of mercenaries in the occupied territories, and to bring those responsible to justice.

The continuation of the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries supported by it represents a continuation of chaos and direct support for all extremist forces, including ISIS, therefore, ending the occupation is a guarantee of stability and the preservation of security, which is a strategic decision that we will not deviate from no matter how long it takes, and based on the determination of our people and the path of our martyrs, we will achieve victory and defeat the occupation."
