AANES: Issue of ISIS detainees is international one

The joint head of the Department of Foreign Relations confirmed that the issue of detained ISIS mercenaries and their families in NE Syria is an international one and everyone must bear their responsibilities regarding it.

An international meeting was held in the Swiss capital, Geneva, on the 29th and 30th of last month, attended by representatives of European and Asian countries and international organizations, in addition to representatives of the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria to discuss ways to confront ISIS mercenary cells and determine the necessary efforts to ensure a sustainable defeat of ISIS.

The joint head of the Department of Foreign Relations in the Autonomous Administration, Badran Çia Kurd, who attended the meeting, said in a statement to the media, following the meeting, published by the department’s media office, that “the meeting reviewed a group of major issues related to ways to enhance efforts to achieve the comprehensive elimination of ISIS.”

He stressed that "military efforts alone are not sufficient to permanently eliminate ISIS, so everyone must work to achieve comprehensive international coordination and cooperation by securing the camps and detention centers, in addition to establishment of more rehabilitation centers for ISIS children who receive extremist ideological thought, which makes them a major threat at the international level.”

Çia Kurd added, "The meeting stressed the necessity of searching for at least moderate solutions to the issue of children, women and men, as it was pointed out that deportation alone is not considered a radical solution." He adddd  "The challenges facing the Autonomous Administration's efforts to combat ISIS were also addressed." “Especially the ongoing Turkish aggression against the region, which is considered a factor that weakens efforts to combat terrorism and threatens the security and stability in NE Syria.
