Today, a delegation from the People's Municipality of the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods visited the Aleppo City Council to coordinate municipal work in the two neighborhoods, in accordance with Article 11 of the agreement signed between the General Council of the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods and the Damascus authorities. This agreement stipulates that "civil institutions in the two neighborhoods shall work in coordination with city institutions and provide services to them without discrimination from other neighborhoods in Aleppo, through the two municipal branches located in the neighborhoods."

The People's Municipality delegation from the two neighborhoods included the co-chairs, Amina Bayram and Mustafa Shahin, as well as a number of engineers supervising the departments.

They were received by a number of members of the Aleppo City Council, headed by Council Chairman Muhammad Ali al-Aziz, at the governorate building.

During the meeting, which lasted approximately two hours, discussions focused on the mechanism for activating subcommittees in various fields, including electricity, water, and sanitation, as well as the provision of parks and sanitation services.

Among the discussions, Amina Bayram, the co-chair of the People's Municipality in the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods, stated during her speech at the meeting that the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods have been subjected to numerous pressures and restrictions in service areas, most notably the siege imposed by the Ba'ath regime's security forces in previous periods.

Amina emphasized that the primary goal of the People's Municipality in the two neighborhoods is to work to provide and improve basic services to residents in the coming period, in coordination and cooperation with the Aleppo Central Municipality and the City Council.

Aleppo City Council Chairman Muhammad Ali al-Aziz stated that they are prepared, based on the available capabilities, to cooperate and coordinate across all service sectors, while developing plans and studies for implementation now and in the future.

He also emphasized the need to separate the services sector from politics and other issues, and to support the provision of services in both neighborhoods without discrimination compared to other neighborhoods in Aleppo.

The meeting continued with discussions among members of the technical offices, including engineers and supervisors, to reach formulas that would benefit future coordination and create better services for residents, based on current available resources.

The meeting also discussed the mechanism for representing the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods within the structure of the Aleppo City Council.

The meeting concluded with both parties affirming their commitment to prioritizing the work of the subcommittees for all sectors and holding future meetings to increase coordination between the two sides.

It is worth noting that Article 14 of the Aleppo Agreement stipulates "the preservation of existing service, administrative, educational, municipal, and local council institutions in the two neighborhoods until the joint central committees agree on a sustainable solution."
