SDF announce the martyrdom 5 of their fighters in rural Deir-ez-Zor

The Media Center of the Syrian Democratic Forces published a statement announcing the martyrdom of 5 fighters of the Northern Democratic Forces, during their participation in the " Security Enhancement" operation launched by the Syrian Democratic Forces against ISIS mercenaries and wanted criminals in the countryside of Deir ez-Zor.

The statement stated:

Our forces, the Syrian Democratic Forces, launched the “Security Enhancement” operation in the eastern and northern regions of Deir-ez-Zor countryside, to cleanse them of the remaining remnants of the “ISIS” terrorist cells, criminal elements and drug smugglers.

The operation came as a result of a call from the sheikhs and notables of the region, after the increasing activity of ISIS terrorist cells, smuggling operations, violations of citizens’ rights, and disruption of public security in those areas. Various components of our forces participated in the operation.

During the operations to cleanse the region of these terrorist and security-disrupting elements, five fighters from the Northern Democratic Forces, affiliated with our forces, became martyrs, after they demonstrated historical resistance in confronting elements of the terrorist organization, and in confronting criminals, including smugglers and those outside the applicable laws and regulations.

As we console ourselves, and all the families of our martyrs, we are at the same time more determined to achieve their noble goals for which they sacrificed their lives, to preserve the security of our regions and to strike with an iron fist on anyone who tries to destabilize the security of citizens, and to protect the lives and property of the people.”
