The centenary of the Treaty of Lausanne, which falls on the twenty-fourth of July, is approaching, and this anniversary comes in light of the suffering of the people of the region from the results of these agreements and facing the dangers of similar new agreements.

The Iraqi professor and doctor, Tayseer Abd al-Jabbar al-Alusi, evaluated the agreements and treaties that were drafted at the beginning of the last century, saying: "We must confirm the reality of the complementarity between covenants and international agreements in their effects and functions. When we read these covenants, we will find that the legal aspects were based on the changes of the modern era, and not on the entirety of the eras of empires and their alternation in ruling the ancient world."

In light of this, Al-Alusi believes that: "The Sykes-Picot Agreement was one of the outcomes of the first global war, and the realization of the sharing of state property in the Arab region and the Middle East.

He added: "Although the synonym of what appeared in 1916 for the agreement itself was promises to the representatives of the Arab revolution and others; where the Sevres Agreement is, we will find that this agreement came in 1920 to pass the pressure of the Sykes-Picot scandal that preceded it, and that it was only for a period of time that had brought other circumstances through the second Lausanne Agreement, to be a tool to finish off the aspirations of the peoples to self-determination and obtain the right of a free and independent state, specifically here for the Kurds, who fell into the same trap in which it fell. the people of the region."

Parties, most notably Turkey, are seeking to market these agreements again

Al-Alusi wondered, what after a hundred years of Lausanne?, answering: "In fact, certain parties seek to market the expiration of the agreement even though they have no actual indication of that, and by this they do not mean the return of the Treaty of Sèvres , but are looking to exploit the current imbalance in the interest of regurgitating the illusions of restoring the Sultanate that ended and evaporated with history and the past that passed and died by injecting the Ottomanism philosophy with the spirit of brotherhood and the effectiveness of the ideology of what they call jihad and the support of God by limiting its representation on the ground With parties looking for the restoration of a religious state, or the state of the Caliphate, which paves the way for expansionist dreams that will shake the Middle East again. Some of it prevents the right to self-determination for the Kurds, and from it strengthens its hegemony over them, and may win a (Brotherhood) section that supports its sick delusions projects that it believes will be based on the ruins of what it intends to destroy from the secular state on the one hand, and the democratic societies of the system and approach.

The Iraqi professor believes, "Turkey's Erdogan's efforts are based on creating more problems in confronting the countries of the region, spreading fragility and confusion in their strategies, allowing them, especially with hundreds of military sites and bases, as well as exploiting what they have gained among the (Turkmen) of Turanian powers, but with the background of the Ottomanization and its sultanate, I say what allows for the imposition of a transitional authority that will pave the way for an open expansionist policy."

Malicious projects and schemes

Al-Alusi called for alertness to the sources of power of these malicious projects, which, according to the Iraqi professor, are:

1- Marketing the end of Lausanne 1923 with some of its paragraphs that serve the royal project of Ottomanization.

2- Preparing for expansionist crimes with the mediation of not dozens, but hundreds of military centers, points and bases, as we see in Iraq, Syria and Libya.

3- Expansion towards Asia, Africa and even Europe, albeit in disguised forms as carrying illusion or pathological dream.

4- Raising catastrophic problems to perpetuate the fragility of the Middle East countries and to fabricate quarrels and preoccupations with issues that are far from what Erdogan’s Turkey is targeting.

5- Searching for ideological forces that serve the Ottomanization project, and they are Brotherhood forces, among the people of the region, consistent with the futility of rumination on history and its models before the modern state.

6- As a result, the countries of the region are torn apart and placed in contradictions between the national state of the remnants of Sykes-Picot, and between internal rivalries and illusions of subordination to regional or international parties to disturb any stability.

7- Fabricating rivalries between the Arab and Kurdish nations, and squabbling between their peoples at the regional and local levels pertaining to the national identity of each.

8- Removing the projects of Ottomanization and the essence of brotherhood with political ideology from the drawers of ancient and modern history in order to impose a fait accompli.

Solutions and steps required for confrontation

Professor and Dr. Tayseer Abd al-Jabbar al-Alusi also called for several steps to be taken to confront this, namely:

1- Awareness of the strategies of the other, especially here Erdogan’s Turkey and other regional powers, and of the legitimate Islamist or extremist religious diagnosis of the entire region.

2- It is required to prioritize events in a way that combats that project, otherwise the forces of the region and its people will fall into the traps of preoccupation on the part of those who target it and carry their dreams with implementation.

3- There must be a national unity conference for the Arabs and Kurds, and the national and popular forces that are aware of the project and its risks.

4- It is useful to scientifically research the foundations or means of alternatives and solutions before putting our peoples in confrontation with a fait accompli that will last with violence, iron and fire, the extent that the Ottoman Sultanate of Darkness lasted when it stabbed every civilizational value of the peoples of the region and the world.
