Women of NE Syria: Our solidarity will prevent recurrence of Lausanne Treaty's crimes

Yesterday, a forum was organized at the Middle East level on the massacres in Mesopotamia, under the slogan "With the strength and solidarity of women, we will defeat the policy of partition and the genocide of Lausanne against the peoples", at the initiative of Kongra Star and in coordination with the Women's Councils of the Democratic Union Party and the Future Syria Party.

The forum shed light on the massacres and genocides that took place in the second half of the nineteenth century and the first quarter of the twentieth century, the treaties that were concluded against the people of the region, and the results of the Treaty of Lausanne.

In this context, the head of the Armenian Women's Union, Anahit Kasabian, said, "Women from the components of NE Syria met during the forum, in order to strengthen women's will in the face of agreements that stipulate the division of the region, such as the Lausanne Agreement."

She noted that the Treaty of Lausanne took place in order to exterminate the components of the region, including the Kurds, Armenians, Syriacs and Yazidis.

Anahit explained, "The Armenian component stands against the genocides that took place against all the components of the region, and all feminist movements join hands in order not to repeat the massacres that took place."

For her part, Hind Daristani, from the Circassian component, said, "The Treaty of Lausanne had a great impact on the Circassian component, and the rest of the components of the region, with the aim of obliterating its identity and culture."

Darastani emphasized that Circassian women will unite in order not to repeat the Lausanne Agreement, which led to the division of the region and the displacement and extermination of its population.

While Hadiya of Shammo, from the Yazidi component, showed that the impact of the Treaty of Lausanne was great on the Yazidi component, because the first extermination that happened to it was at the hands of the Ottoman Empire.

Shammo called on women from all components to unite and cooperate in order not to repeat the scenario of the Treaty of Lausanne against the people of the region.
