Political, Social parties slam Turkish attacks, criticize international powers's inaction

In front of the building of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Qamishlo, representatives of 33 parties and women's and social organizations gathered this afternoon, and made a joint statement, condemning the attacks of the Turkish occupation state on NE Syria.

The position of the parties and organizations came less than 24 hours after a Turkish attack throuy a drone, which caused the martyrdom of the co-chair of the Qamishlo Canton Council, Yousra Darwish, the co-chairman of the Council, Lyman Shweish, and the national figure Furat Touma, and the injury of the co-chair of the Qamishlo Canton Council, Gabi Shimon.

The statement was read by the member of the Modernity and Democracy Party for Syria, Haifa Mahmoud, who recalled the continuous attacks on NE Syria, "since occupation of the cities of Sere Kaniye (Ras al-Ain) and Girê Spî (Tal Abyad) in October 2019, Turkish army continued its aggressive behavior to security and stability in the various cities, towns, and villages of NE Syria, using all types of weapons and ammunition, and mainly relied on drones, targeting unarmed civilians, children, administrators, and vital economic sectors."

"As part of this series of crimes, yesterday, June 20, a Turkish drone targeted a civilian car in the eastern countryside of the city of Qamishlo, as a result of which Mrs. Yousra Darwish, the co-president of Qamishlo canton, the deputy co-president of the Council, Mrs. Lyman Shweish, and the driver Furat Touma were martyred. Mr. Gabi Shimon the co-chair of the district council was also injured.

The political parties that signed the statement offered their deepest condolences to the families of the martyrs, and condemned "in the strongest terms this heinous racist crime against this group of our children who were on a field tour to inspect affairs of the region," stressing that "the crimes of the Turkish occupation will not bend our political will to achieve democratic transformation for Syria according to a national political vision.

The political parties warned that "these crimes aim to destabilize Syria's unity, strike at its sovereignty, and empty the various national initiatives calling for a political solution."

The political parties pointed out that the recent Turkish crime coincided with "the twentieth meeting on the Syrian crisis held in Astana, and we have previously warned that any security normalization between Damascus and Ankara in isolation from the national political solution will only be an entrance for Turkey to resume its crimes against the Syrian people.

The political parties called on "the various Syrian forces to assume their responsibilities towards the Syrian people, also they called for work to unify efforts and visions towards violations and crimes committed by the Turkish occupation.

The political parties also called on the Russian Federation and the international coalition led by the United States of America not to continue the policy of turning a blind eye to Turkey's crimes, which are increasing dramatically.
