Tomorrow, Jordan will host a meeting of the foreign ministers of Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Iraq and Egypt with the foreign minister of the Damascus government.

A meeting will be held tomorrow in the Jordanian capital, Amman, for the foreign ministers of several Arab countries. The official spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs in Jordan, Sinan Majali, said: "The meeting comes as a continuation of the consultative meeting of the countries of the Cooperation Council for the Arab Gulf States, Jordan, Iraq and Egypt, which was hosted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Jeddah." On April 14, 2023, and  the contacts that these countries made with the Syrian government and in the context of its proposals, along with the Jordanian initiative to reach a political solution to the Syrian crisis.

It is noteworthy that the committee emanated from the consultative meeting of the foreign ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, Egypt, Jordan and Iraq, which was previously held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on April 14 to discuss ways to enhance joint Arab action.

Informed sources had previously suggested the formation of an Arab committee at the Amman meeting, which the foreign ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Iraq, Egypt and Jordan agreed to hold after Eid al-Fitr, in order to discuss: "a political solution to the Syrian crisis internally, regionally and internationally."

The Jordanian Foreign Minister, Ayman Al-Safadi, announced about a Jordanian initiative to find a “political solution” to the Syrian crisis to solve the crisis and its security and political ramifications.

The Arab ministers participating in the April 14th Jeddah meeting, devoted to discussing the return of Damascus to the Arab surrounding after more than a decade of its exclusion, agreed on the need to play an “Arab leadership role” in efforts to end the crisis in Syria, according to the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs in a statement.

 The ministers also affirmed that: "The political solution is the only solution to the Syrian crisis," but it did not decide whether Syria would return to its seat in the Arab League.
