Green Left Party nominates 193 women for the parliamentary elections

Political parties in Turkey and Bakur Kurdistan (Northern Kurdistan) submitted their lists for the May 14 elections to the Supreme Electoral Council on Sunday (April 9).

Among these parties, the Green Left Party whose lists included the largest number of female candidates, Roj News reported.

* The list of 600 people from the Justice and Development Party included 113 female candidates.

* In the list of the Republican People's Party, which includes the DEVA Party, the Future Party, Saadat Party and the Democratic Party, 153 women ran.

* And 145 women from the candidates of the Aljaeed ( GOOD) Party, which is participating in the elections with a different list.

* The left-wing Green Party nominated 193 female candidates, out of 490 candidates from the Green Left Party, who will run in the elections under the umbrella of the Labor and Freedom Alliance. They are women. The Turkish Workers' Party (TIP), which is part of the coalition but with its list that will not enter the elections in 18 provinces, has put forward 161 women as candidates out of 398 candidates.

According to the lists submitted to the Supreme Electoral Council, the Justice and Development Party nominated 4 women, the Republican People's Party 11 women, and the Jaid Party 6 women from the first rank in the provinces. This number was 30 in the Green Left Party. On the other hand, the Turkish Workers' Party put 28 women in first place.

The percentage of women on party lists is as follows: Justice and Development Party 18.83 percent, Republican People’s Party 26.33 percent, Good Party 25.84 percent, Green Left Party 39.38 percent, Turkish Islamic Party 40.45 percent.

It is noteworthy that in the elections of June 24, 2019, there were 126 female candidates on the list of the Justice and Development Party, and 137 female candidates on the list of the Republican People's Party. The Peoples' Democratic Party, which will enter the next May 14 elections as the left-wing Green Party, has nominated 230 women.
