9 girls' Schools  in Rojhelat, Iran being poisoned by toxic gas

On Sunday, 6 schools in the city of Saqqez, two schools in the city of Sinnah, and a school in Amal, were attacked with toxic gases, and dozens of students were taken to hospital, according to the Women's News Agency (NUJINHA).

In Saqqez, dozens of female students, including athlete and gold medalist Hengama Mohammadi, were injured after a chemical attack on schools.

8 out of 9 schools that were subjected to chemical attacks are located in Rojhelat Kurdistan, and they are the secondary schools of “Miraj”, “Talqani”, “Sumaya”, “Bint Al-Huda Sadr”, “Istiklal”, and “Ismat” in Saqqez.

The two schools located in the city of Sunnah are the “Rahmana’i” and “Jamaran” schools, while the one located in the city of Amal is the “Religion and Knowledge” school, all of these schools are for girls. After the chemical attack and the poisoning of dozens of female students in Saqqez, while the parents were heading towards the schools to check on the health of their daughters, the Iranian security forces attacked them and arrested a number of them.

In response to the poisoning of the female students and the arrest of the parents, the citizens of Saqqez protested by setting up roadblocks in several places, and groups of students and teachers issued invitations to protest.

According to video tapes published from Saqqez, in one of the schools the citizens raised the slogan "Jin, Jiyan, Azadî" (Woman, Life, Freedom).

Over the popular uprising that broke out in mid-September 2022 after the killing of the Kurdish young woman, Gina Amini (22 years old), cases of poisoning of female students began in the cities of Rojhelat Kurdistan, the cities of Qom, and the central governorates, since late last year.
