​​​​​​​Damascus Government prevents the Red Cross from entering Sheikh Maqsoud - Ashrafieh

The Damascus Government is still imposing noose tights against the residents of the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods, the Damascus militias deployed around the two neighborhoods have been preventing international aid from passing since last Wednesday (March 8).

According to the Relief Committee in the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods, the Damascus government's al-Awarid checkpoint has been preventing teams affiliated with the International Red Cross from passing relief materials to the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods, for five days.

As for the nature of the relief materials, the committee indicated that they are food relief materials for children, with a large proportion of the materials that the Committee of the Red Cross directed to the two neighborhoods.

It is noteworthy that the neighborhoods of Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh have been suffering from a suffocating siege imposed by the Damascus government for nearly 6 months, during which flour, infant formula, medicines and relief supplies have been denied entry, despite the disaster of the earthquake.
