Statements confirm March 12 uprising is beginning of July 19 revolution

Institutions in the Euphrates region confirmed that the Qamishlo massacre and uprising were the first spark towards the embodiment of the just cause to freedom and democracy, and represented beginning of the July 19 revolution.

The Girê Spî Canton Council and the Youth and Sports Authority in the Euphrates region made two separate statements, at different times, on the anniversary of the March 12 massacre and uprising.

The statement of the Girê Spî Canton Council, read in the square of the Girê Spî Canton Council by the member of the Women's Committee of the Cantonal Council.

The statement indicated, "The regime's goal was to weaken the region and disperse it in a way that guarantees distracting it from the struggle, and stripping the Kurdish people of their rights, by creating sedition on the 12th of March."

The statement added, "The uprising was the first spark from which the July 19 revolution derived the spirit of resistance and popular cohesion to fulfill freedom and democracy, for the components of NE Syria."

The Council pointed out that the Damascus government, 19 years after that massacre, which later turned into a popular uprising, still adheres to the same mentality, and constantly aims to sow discord among the components of the region.

In a related context, the Youth and Sports Body in the Democratic Autonomous Administration of the Euphrates region stated, in a written statement that 19 years ago from now, the Damascus government tried to exploit a sporting event to create a conflict between the Arab and Kurdish components in the March 12 Martyrs’ Stadium in Qamishlo, and then committed A big massacre inside the stadium.

The statement, which was delivered from inside the “Kobani and Norway Friendship” stadium, and was read by Yara Nabi, the administrator of the commission, confirmed that March 12, 2004 marked the beginning of the revolution of resistance and freedom.

The statement indicated, "What happened with the Jihad team in Rojava is repeated with the Amed Sport team in Bakur Kurdistan, where the team was subjected to racism by the Turkish occupation state, which created discord between the Kurdish and Turkish fans."

It stressed that despite the plots of the Turkish occupation state and the government of Damascus, the components are more cautious and the project of the democratic nation is growing day by day due to the people solidarity, awareness and struggle against the tyrants.
