K.Star holds its ninth conference, elects new coordinator

Under the slogan "With our relentless struggle for the women's revolution, the uprising of Jin, Jiyan, Azadî will triumph. Women, life, freedom", Kongra Star held its ninth conference, on Sunday (January 15), in conjunction with the 18th anniversary of its founding.

The conference, which was held in Sardam Hall for Culture and Art in the city of Hasaka, was attended by nearly 1,000 members, Kongra Star coordinators in Damascus, in addition to representatives of women’s movements and organizations in NE Syria and political parties, most notably (the Women’s Body in the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria, the Women’s Council of the Democratic Union (PYD), the Syrian Democratic Council, the Future Syria Party, the Women’s Protection Units (YPJ), the Syrian Democratic Forces, and the Internal Security Forces - Women).

In the hall, pictures of the martyrs of the women's revolution in Rojava, NE Syria and in parts of Kurdistan (Hevrin Khalaf, Zainab Muhammad, Nahihan Akarsal, Jiyan Tolhaldan) were hung in addition to Kongra Star flags and pictures of the women who lost their lives in the uprising led by women in Rojhilat Kurdistan and Iran .

The work of the Ninth Conference of the Kongra Star began, with the participants who attended in their folkloric costumes standing a minute of silence in honor of the souls of the martyrs, then the member of the Kongra Star coordinator, Rehan Loqo, congratulated the leader Abdullah Ocalan and all the pioneers of the women’s revolution in Rojava and NE Syria, on Kongra Star 18th anniversary, and recalled all the martyrs of freedom (Hevrin Khalaf, Zahra Barkal, Mother Amina Weissi, Mother Aqeedah, Guli Selmo, Sakina Jansiz, and Evin Koy).

She added, "With the leadership of the women's revolution and the slogan "Jin, Jiyan, Azadî", which has become a universal slogan, and with the spirit of women's resistance, we will win," saying:

"The uprising led by women will be crowned with victory, just as women's revolution in Rojava, the history repeats itself today in the uprising in Rojhilat, Kurdistan and Iran, this revolution will inevitably be victorious.

Loqo referred to what Kongra Star has achieved over the past 2 years. She noted the high pace of women's resistance against all forms of targeting against pioneers and leaders of the women's revolution.

The introductory speech, followed by reading excerpts from leader Abdullah Ocalan's assessments regarding women's struggle and resistance in light of the attacks they are subjected to by the dominant patriarchal system.

The conference continued by showing recorded video clips of female personalities from outside NE Syria who also congratulated the convening of the conference, and wished Kongra Star to continue the struggle for the freedom of all women.

The conference discussed activities during the past 2 years, which included an assessment of the political situation, the isolation of leader Abdullah Ocalan and his situation, along with women situation in light of the historical turning points the region is going through, as well as shedding light on work of Kongra Star in Rojava and its coordinators in (Southern Kurdistan, Lebanon, Europe, and Damascus).

The work of the conference continued by making some amendments to the Kongra Star Charter which included formation and addition of several other committees to the charter, such as the “Leader Abdullah Ocalan’s Freedom Committee, the Free Life Committee, Self-Protection Committee (which consists of the Women’s Protection Units, the Forces Internal Security - Women, and Community Protection Forces - Women), the Disciplinary Committee, along with changing the name of the Committee of Democratic Relations and Agreements to the Committee of Relations, Agreements and Democratic Politics, in addition to changing the introduction to the charter to fit the newly added committees.

The conference concluded with the election of a new coordinator for Kongra Star consisting of 7 members, who are (Ramziya Muhammad, Walida Bouti, Rehan Loqo, Souad Hassan, Hevi Suleiman, Shadia Youssef and Nisreen Doku).

The Ninth conference of Kongra Star came out with many decisions, the most important of which is (re-implementing the decisions taken during the Eighth Conference, in order to break the isolation regime in Imrali and to spread the thought of leader Ocalan, building the Committee for the Freedom of Leader Abdullah Ocalan, holding a conference on the philosophy of leader Ocalan, organizing the work of the Kongra Star and its consolidation in accordance with the People’s Revolutionary War, approval of all proposals and decisions resulting from the annual meetings and conferences for the year 2022 within the structure of the Kongra Star, considering Zainab Muhammad, the co-chair of the Justice and Reform Department, and Hadiya Abdullah and Çîçek Harouni, who were martyred in the massacre of Taqel Baqil in the Dêrik district, as martyrs and symbols of popular resistance, changing the name of the Star Academy to the Martyr Leila Agri Academy in the town of Rumaylan, Qamishlo Canton, and opening a central academy in the name of Zainab Sarukhan (Zainab Muhammad) in the city of Hasaka, in order to form a democratic family, struggle against gender intolerance, change the masculine mentality, and consolidate a free, equal life, strengthening the role of communes and reactivating them.

Moreover, the forming of the Kongra Star Disciplinary Committee, and Self-Protection Committee, and opening of the Women’s Library, and Free Women’s Park in the name of the young woman By Kurdish Gina Amini, building modern (developed) villages, opening training courses for Kongra Star staff, in order to organize the work of the Women's House, holding the Women's House conference every six months, and consolidating democratic relations with international environmental committees).
