Fawza Yusef: We created revolution is a unique of its principles for all Syrians 

This July 19th marks the tenth anniversary of the Rojava revolution and north and east Syria, and to assess the role and gains of women in it, along with what lies with them at this stage, ANHA’s agency held a dialogue with the member of the co-chairmanship of the Democratic Union Party (PYD), Fawza Yousef

The dialogue read as follows:

* The July 19^th Revolution enters its eleventh year, despite all the attacks and threats against it by the Turkish occupying state and its mercenaries. The Revolution remains committed to its objectives and continues its struggle. In your view, what are the reasons why this Revolution is committed to its objectives?

At the outset, I bless the July 19^th Revolution on the peoples of North and East Syria and all the free people of the world. Yes, the Revolution has been attacked and continues to be threatened every day, but it continues to preserve its entirety. The main reason why it persists and makes it uphold its objectives is the libertarian values and ideas on which it is based.

This revolution adopted the theory of a democratic nation that addresses all the issues suffered by the components and contained the perfect solution. For the first time, the components were able to manage themselves without any exclusion or discrimination. The Revolution's reliance on democratic values and women's freedom gave it the strength to counter attacks and to defeat them, this revolution began in Kobani, but spread throughout north and east Syria. Kurdish at first, but now Arab, Syrian, Turkmen and Armenian, because it embraced all the identities that were marginalized and opened the way to express itself.

In your view, why is the Turkish occupying state and its mercenary seeking to undermine, target and occupy the objectives and gains of the Rojava Revolution and the north and east of Syria, thereby eliminating them from their roots?

Turkish state is a fascist state and governed by a dictatorial regime, which is an enemy of peoples, religions and beliefs and rejects different identities because they are racist. This country, which has become the epic center of international terrorism, sees the Rojava revolution and Democratic Autonomous Administration DAA as a threat to it. Because it sees democracy, women's freedom, peaceful coexistence among peoples as a threat to their authoritarian system, Turkey has aspirations and wants to achieve this, but AA and the Rojava revolution have resisted it and stopped stumbling blocking its aggressive hopes in Syria. In addition, the Turkish state is hostile to the Kurdish people and refuses to have their rights in any way.

* In the same context, the Turkish occupier continues to launch attacks on the region. If it attacks, what is the role of the components of north and east Syria to repel it? How should its response be?

The Turkish state has expansionist aspirations in the region, especially in Syria in view of the international conflict it exploits to achieve this, Turkey wants to realize Erdogan's dream, recognized at the beginning of the popular movement in Syria, to hold prayers at the Umayyad Mosque s territorial integrity, and wants to recover what it lost after World War I and II. It is therefore an enemy of Arabs, Assyria, Armenians and Kurds. And all the sects and all the identities, what it did in Afrin and Ras al Ain and Tal Abyad is a hard proof to Turkey's level of hostility to the peoples. That's why we must join hands together to resist this occupier, we must unite and form a strong front to push back against this enemy, which wants to take over our lands and our homes and destroy the gains of peoples seeking to live freely and with dignity.

Everyone who has the strength must arm ourselves and prepare ourselves for a people’s war. The Turkish state must realize that the peoples will resist as they resisted ISIS, Jabhat al-Nusra and other mercenary terrorist groups, and they must trust their own strength and stand by the Syrian Democratic Forces SDF.

Defending our land and offering is the duty of every national human being and everyone who wants to live freely and with dignity, not just the military, to deter this aggression. Our response must be strong and can be achieved by demonstrating resistance.

* In the Rojava Revolution, North and East Syria, women are specifically targeted either directly with weapons and UAVs or indirectly through the practice of private warfare, However, women, organizations and women's movements continue their work, activities and activities vigorously. If the Turkish occupying state attacks the region, what role are the pioneers of the Rojava revolution, known as the Women's Revolution, and what should be their position?

Women are among the groups most affected by the catastrophic consequences of the occupation. Women in the north and east of Syria now have all rights and freedoms, it enjoys privileges that do not exist in any region of the world. So, in order to protect what you got you must resist, must play a leading role in the field of protection and defence, as it did at the beginning of the revolution, everyone will lose when new areas, would be occupied, but the biggest loser are women because Turkish fascism is as much an enemy of women's freedom as it is of democracy and peaceful coexistence among peoples.

The abduction and rape of women in Afrin demonstrates the brutality and hostility of this occupation. In the face of ISIS, women have achieved heroics that have shaken the world. The Turkish state has the same mentality and behaviour as ISIS, so women must reinforce the will to resist. and to be a driving force for society as a whole, because indeed if a woman has a heroic attitude, it can affect society as a whole.

* On the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the revolution of 19 July, the slogan "We will eliminate the occupation and build a democratic Syria" was adopted. How should women play a role?

The choice of such a slogan did not come from nothing, one of our basic objectives is to end the occupation; Because the objectives of the revolution and occupation cannot be achieved, our regions continue to be subjected daily to demographic attack and change by the Turkish occupying state, which wages a war of extermination against us and targets our material and moral values. That is why the occupation has been defeated as one of our priorities for stabilization, construction and consolidation of the values of the July 19^th Revolution. The other section of the slogan is the building of a democratic Syria. We therefore affirm that we are part of Syria and that we see ourselves as accountable to the democratic transition in all Syria, not just our regions.

The revolution began in north and east Syria, but the main objective of this revolution was and remains to achieve democracy in all Syria. This could be the sole guarantor of the continuity of the July 19^th Revolution. In order to achieve this, there is a need for struggle, determination, and women can play an important role in this. We need to work to get our message across to the other regions of Syria. That is, we have created a revolution whose principles and acquisitions can serve as a way out for all Syrians of the values of a liberal democracy, all Syrians must understand that under a democratic system we can guarantee our rights, end the crisis and interfere with our destiny by external forces.

* In order to defend and protect the gains of the July 19^th Revolution, what lies with the people of the region and the AANES that declared a state of emergency in the region, how do you assess this state of emergency and its importance, and the 19 July revolution how will it affect the resistance spirit of the people of north and east Syria?

We are in a state of constant war where we provide daily martyrs and victims as a result of Turkey's daily bombing of our regions Therefore, the decision of AANES to declare a state of emergency is a good one. The Turkish state makes threats every day and cannot turn a blind eye to the fact that Erdogan has gone bankrupt in all respects and wants to hide all Turkey's economic, political and social crises by occupying new areas of Syria, it is a dirty and heinous policy to link the sustainability of his power to murder and occupation. Therefore, the necessary measures must be taken by AANES as it is accountable to its people.

This emergency confirms that we must be on constant alert. And to organize our lives according to the circumstances of the war, the rev July 19^{th Revolution}, we must strengthen this spirit of resistance, and to establish them in ourselves, we gave thousands of martyrs from the good daughters and sons of our people in order to live a life that befits us.
