Turkish effort to exploit Russian-Ukrainian war: looking for a chance of offensive

The Ukrainian-Russian war on its 22nd day, which is described as a war of domination that caused massacres and displacement of many people.

Meanwhile, the Turkish state exerted all its power and capabilities to serve its bargains to exploit this war, as impact of the war on the Middle East and Kurdistan is still unclear.

The parliamentarian and spokesperson for the HDP's foreign relations, Hashyar Ozsoy, spoke about the impacts of the Ukrainian-Russian war on Turkey, Kurdistan and Europe.

Ozsoy explained that there is a union against Russia in Europe and NATO, no one legitimizes or justifies the Russian military action in Ukraine.

He also referred to the sanctions which taken against Russia, saying: “Although there is no NATO military intervention in the war, several sanctions have been taken that will have a significant negative impact on the economic level in Russia.

Ozsoy also reminded that NATO had included 14 European countries since the 1990s, and said "It was a transatlantic defense alliance linking Europe and America. But Russia acted aggressively even after the dissolution of the Warsaw Pact as well. Russia's main pretext is the reason for NATO's expansion towards Eastern Europe." It has now even marched towards Moscow."

Russia confronts Western unity

Ozsoy stated that Russia took all international reactions into consideration and explained that the burden of this war would be heavy on Russia, by saying: “What we see now, is that Russia and Ukraine are trying to find common ground between them. In fact, Russia did not expect to face such a large Western unity, the West and NATO are on the same line, Putin might make some tactical gains in a short time.

Concerning to the competition for armaments in Europe, Ozsoy said : “Germany was very attentive in the field of armaments, it should have spent 2 percent of its national product on defense expenditures in NATO, but it did not do that, However today we see that Germany will allocate a hundred One billion euros for its security.

That is why we will witness in the future a case of greater armaments in the whole of Europe on the one hand, and in Eastern Europe on the other hand."

Ozsoy also said, “The war may not expand and Europe will become militarized because the countries in Eastern Europe are moving towards joining NATO that increase their armament more, furthermore the major arms companies will sell a lot of weapons. Unfortunately this arms race is basis of the struggles in the next age."

Turkey's meetings did not produce any result

He stated that : "The meetings in the Turkish city of Antalya came to nothing, Russia wants to control of Ukraine where the latter does not accept, this is a very important issue between Russia and NATO. Russia does not trust Turkey very much, but it does not want Turkey to be in the other side.

Russia has many cards against Turkey

Hashyar Ozsoy cleared that if Turkey faces Russia in this issue, Russia will have a very high ability to stand against it in the Caucasus, Syria and Libya. Russia has many cards in Idlib, and eastern Syria to put pressure on Turkey in fields of trade, agriculture, tourism and energy, he mentioned that Turkey had entered the stage of complete collapse along with an oil crisis all over the world if the war continued for a month, Turkey will affect so much.

Ozsoy made the point clear that Turkey is looking for an opportunity to launch a comprehensive and expanded attack on Başûr or Rojava. It seeks to achieve a 'small victory' before the elections.

About the meetings between KDP and the Turkish state, Ozsoy said: “ KDP, Turkey and the United States of America seek to form an alliance in the Middle East especially as America has long encouraged a rapprochement between Turkey and KDP.

Hashyar Ozsoy concluded by saying: Iran also a regional power. But do you think that these developments occurred by chance or is it a response to the meeting held in Turkey? We hope that this rapprochement will not become the basis for attack on the Kurds, but unfortunately, all indications point to that.
