Mass demonstration in Aleppo condemns occupation of Afrin on its fourth anniversary

 Today marks the fourth anniversary of the occupation of Afrin canton and the forced displacement of its people by the Turkish occupation army and its mercenaries.

 Thousands of Aleppo residents and Afrin displaced people gathered in Sheikh Maqsoud neighborhood, and carried olive branches and banners reading “With us to liberate Afrin” and pictures of the martyrs of the Resistance of the Age, along with pictures of the leader Abdullah Ocalan and a number of Kurdish symbols and flags.

 The demonstrators toured a number of streets in the neighborhoods of Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh to shout slogans denouncing the occupation and international silence, and demanding the liberation of Afrin and the return of the displaced.

 After the demonstrators arrived at the Olive Roundabout in the Ashrafieh neighborhood, they held a minute of silence in honor of the souls of the martyrs of freedom, after which two speeches were given by each of the administrators of the Martyr's Neighborhood Council, Kalhat and  Welat Mamo, and the administrators of the Kongra Star, facing Mamo.

 The two words began with sympathy for all the martyrs of freedom and civilians who died under the Turkish bombardment of the canton, and continued by noting that the appropriate response to the crimes committed by the occupier is to escalate the struggle against all fascists and to continue the resistance by all means.

 As for the resistance shown by the displaced people of Afrin, the words indicated that it is the best option to return what was stolen from the Afrin, which is the resistance at all levels until the liberation of Afrin and returning it to its people.

 The words ended with the renewal of the covenant to follow in the footsteps of the martyrs of freedom and to realize their hopes in building a free democratic homeland and restoring the right to its true owners.

 The demo concluded with chanting slogans that salute the resistance of the people of Afrin and call for holding the Turkish occupation army and its mercenaries accountable for the crimes they committed in the city during its occupation.
