​​​​​​​PYD confirms its progress in the path of liberating occupied Afrin

On Thursday, the General Council of the Democratic Union Party (PYD) issued a statement to the public opinion, a copy of which we received, denouncing the demographic change carried out by the Turkish occupation in occupied Afrin.

The statement reads:

Afrin is still fighting terrorism and occupation in its fourth year after a legendary resistance by the people and its sons, the People’s and Women’s Protection Units (YPG, YPJ), that lasted two months in front of the hordes of terrorism and the Turkish occupation.

A legendary resistance that was written in the pages of history in letters of gold, and astonished all the international and regional regimes and the peoples of the region. It was great resistance and beacon that made many sacrifices that took place throughout the ages, after failing of the Turkish invading army to confront this resistance, so started in destroying the villages and cities using internationally prohibited weapons and with the complete connivance of the international community, which legitimized this mark of the Turkish occupation, its invasion and destruction of Afrin canton and its villages and towns until the occupation was completed on March 18, 2018.

Since that black history and four years later, the Panturanism Turkish fascism has been practicing the most heinous forms of killing, destruction and persecution through its mercenaries from the Syrian coalition and its affiliated factions against our people in Afrin, and it has systematically continued to build settlements with suspicious brotherhood funds, and changed the names of villages, cities, public squares and archaeological sites that It was built by the first ancestors of the Kurdish people, who paved the way for the emergence of human civilizations in the Middle East. the ruins of the “Ain Dara” hill, which has been lofty for thousands of years, witnessed the brutality and racism of Turkish fascism and its mercenaries when it was destroyed during the terrorist invasion, and in a destructive campaign for nature by cutting down perennial olive trees. The burning of the people’s crops in Afrin and their impoverishment through extortion, the robbery of the people’s livelihood and property, and the kidnapping of the sons and daughters of Afrin with the aim of obliterating the civilization and historical existence of the Kurdish people.

We in the General Council of the Democratic Union Party (PYD), expressing our strong condemnation of the demographic change measures carried out by the Turkish occupation and its repressive practices, including assassinations, kidnappings, thefts, looting of agricultural crops and fruitful trees, extortion of people and expelling them from their homes and lands, and attempts to impose Turkification policy. Our occupied areas, “on top of which is Afrin” as long as the determination and resistance of our people continues to strengthen its internal front and among all its groups on the basis of the people’s revolutionary war, and as long as the pace of struggle rises rapidly through all legitimate means, and we also affirm the continuation of the path of liberation through all means through a demand the active forces in the Syrian file, especially the international forces, to expel the Turkish occupation from the occupied areas and not be satisfied with the role of a spectator. We call on the international community not to condone the violations committed by the Turkish occupation in Afrin and to hold it accountable for all its inhumane acts against our people, and to obligate Turkey to international laws and legislation that guarantee the rights of the people, we also appreciate the legendary resistance shown by our forcibly displaced people in the al-Shahba camps and We salute their presence, which indicates their steadfastness and firm conviction of the achieved return to Afrin, which represents the holy land of the Kurdish people.”
