TEV-DEM: What Turkey is doing in Afrin threatens the will of the peoples in the region

This came by a statement issued by TEV DEM, today, on the fourth anniversary of occupying Afrin Canton, the statement reads:

"4 years have passed since the fascist Turkish occupation and its mercenaries occupied Afrin canton, the will of Afrin' people is subjected to harshest immoral practices of insults and crimes that are committed on a daily basis against the Kurds, (just because they are Kurds) and they impose the harshest living conditions on them, seizing their property and their source of livelihood, what is the fault of Afrin children to live a disaster in this tragic and painful way under the Turkish occupation, mercenaries and the international community turning a blind eye to Turkey's crimes and brutality and allowed Turkey to occupy Afrin Canton, which was the most secure and stable Canton.

Turkish occupation has turned all the villages of Afrin into a center for terrorism and a recruiting center for mercenaries, not to mention the kidnappings, killings and daily violations so that Afrin and its villages, people and nature become captives under the mercy of mercenary groups on one hand and Turkish occupation state on the other hand. As it put all its political and economic weight to its fascist "Milli Charter" project, and it set a budget that exceeds the budget of largest Turkish cities through the policy of demographic change and the construction of settlements to settle foreign mercenaries in them, and we consider this a dangerous Turkish project as a ticking time bomb against the will of the peoples in the region and the most dangerous policies of extremism towards the will and values of our people in Afrin.

The real residents of Afrin who resisted for 58 days in defensing their region, values and cultural history, which was called the resistance of the era against the largest country that used lethal weapons and technologies, so they force our people to live in the shadow of two organized disasters to revenge for their losses, The first one is inside Afrin, as it faces the genocide, policy of ethnic cleansing, arbitrary arrests, and to force them to surrender or die, and the second one is against the IDPs in Al-Shahba camps facing a real humanitarian catastrophe between the daily Turkish bombing and the policies of Damascus government, taking advantage of the international silence.

We in TEV-DEM call on world public opinion, all international organizations concerned with human rights, all institutions, civil society organizations and organizations related to women's and children's affairs to take immediate action to condemn the Turkish occupation for its crimes by taking clear positions to end and defeat the Turkish occupation.
