​​​​​​​TEV-DEM remembers 12 March Uprising martyrs

On the anniversary of the Qamishlo Uprising of 12 March 2004 Movement for a Democratic Society issued a statement runs:

''our Kurdish people was open to a well-planned plot on 12 March 2004 as an extension to the international plot. It was planned by a band of chauvinist Ba'athists in Syria to strike at our resisting people and obliterate its culture, values and gains with the aim to create sedition between Arabs and Kurds and other components to displace the Kurds but the it turned into a popular uprising.

The uprising caught the attention of the whole world putting the regime in a narrow corner socially, politically and economically.

The 12 March uprising revealed the extent of the racial and chauvinist core of the Ba'athist mentality towards the Kurds and other components and the surrender of the regime to the fascist Turkish regime according to the Adana Agreement 

Movement for a Democratic Society sees the situation in Syria generally becomes more grave amid a serious political vacuum in many arenas and prolonging the crisis means to continue a real humanitarian crisis and a slow death due to social and economic deterioration. We, on daily bases, call on the international community notably the United Nations to intervene in this catastrophe.

We pledge the martyrs of the `12 March Uprising and all martyrs of freedom to pursue the course adopted and to trace their way and to increase the struggle'#'.
