NES Woman Council hails fighting women on 8 March

On the occasion of the International Woman's Day a statement was released by the Woman Council of North and East Syria runs:

''in Syria we welcome this occasion amid harsh circumstances due to the war that is ravaging the country notably in areas under Turkish occupation and in IDP camps that are just few km from their cities (Afrin. Sere Kaniye and Gire Spi) but in spite of all difficulties and challenges women in North and East Syria is struggling for their rights surpassing deservedly all obstructions and challenges that used to stand in her fighting truck.

On this occasion we cannot but pay tribute to the role played by Women Protection Units, the YPJ in their defense of home and people to combat terror and her resistance to repel the intransigence of the Turkish occupation army and its mercenary groups. This terror that poses threats to her existence and to the whole world''.
