Ramziya Mohammed: Kongra Star must assume its duty regarding women in occupied areas

Kongra Star expands its events according to the Charter of the Conference based on the principles of fundamental will and the Autonomous Administration of North and East Syria AANES with all women of different cultures, languages and beliefs, in common support in Rojava north east Syria, and throughout Syria.

Hawar news agency ANHA interviewed with, Ramziya Mohammed, the spokeswoman of the Kongra Star in Rojava, in which she evaluated the work of the conference during the last year, saying” we have received many telegrams of congratulations from regional and international women’s organizations, all of which considered that the Kongra Star is the power women in Rojava Revolution in North and East Syria, and the corner stone of establishing women’s organizations.”

She added:” 2021 year started with holding several important events, despite the outbreak of COVID 19 and its impact on the life of the people, but the Kongra Star continued in holing its events.”

In 2022 year we seek to avoid the shortcomings in 2021

During its 8^th Conference, Kongra Star established a special working mechanism for the Conference and a number of resolutions, the most important of which were to bring cases of murder of citizens to international courts and to follow up on them, and to publicize the martyrdom of those who had been martyred in north and east Syria.

She went on to say that about the severe isolation imposed on the leader Ocalan and the ways to liberate him physically, which is considered the most importantly to overcome this shortcomings, Ramziya Mohammed has called for women to step up the political and intellectual struggle and join hand together to achieve freedom for Ocalan’s Leader:

With our free will and organization will destroy and fail all enemy schemes, liberation the occupied areas and ensure that the gains of the revolution are protected."

Kongra Star of Rojava in North and East Syria launched many events within the framework of the "Enough for Isolation, Fascism and Occupation, It's Time for Freedom" campaign announced by KCK and KJK on 12^th September 2020. It was joined by political figures, writers, intellectuals, academics and researchers of various nationalities, and the voices were unanimous in achieving the physical freedom of Ocalan’s leader. In another context, Ramziya Mohammed referred to the importance of the training courses and what they are: "In order to publicize and develop ecology and to make it a basis for economics, health and politics, training courses have been opened in all spheres of life, based on the Jineolojî (women science) that is considered as corner stone in developing of the training process.”

The benefit of the experience of Kongra Star

In this regard, Ramziya Mohammed touched upon the atrocities and brutal crimes that committed in the occupied areas, such as Afrin, Tal Abyed, Jarablous and Azaz, murder, rape, abduction and killing against the women, in which she blamed of the Kongra Star that should to take its duty to protect those women. So, we must step up our struggle to reach and protect them.” 

In addition, Ramziya Mohammed referred to the organization of Arab women within the comprehensive umbrella called the "Zinobia Women's Gathering," after witnessing the achievements of the Kongra Star in Rojava, drawing on its experience over nearly a decade and a half, saying: "The liberated Arab regions have benefited from the experience of the Kongra Star and formed an organization for themselves in the name of the Zinobia Women's Gathering in each, Tabqa, Deir-ez-Zor, Manbij and Raqqa, what was achieved by Rojava Revolution in North and East Syria.” 

Kongra Star spokeswoman criticized women working in AANES’ institutions for not performing their role as required in reaching out to all women, stressing that every woman should be responsible for responding to the appeal of any woman who is subjected to violence and needs support and protection.

What's the work of the 2022 Kongra Star?

Ramziya Mohammed revealed some of the major work of the Conference that it will continue to work on, such as supporting the struggle of women against masculine mentality, documenting the crimes of Turkish occupation against women and escalating its struggle to achieve the physical freedom of leader Ocalan.

Ramziya Mohammed demanded that women in NESyria organize themselves on the basis of Self - Protection, albeit with some responsibility to each other.

At the end of her speech, she presented her self-criticism of all the women the conference was unable to reach, stressing that Kongra Star will intensify its efforts to avoid all the shortcomings that appeared during the current year.

Ramziya Mohammad pointed to the opening of Kongra Star's center in Belgium, saying: "The goal of opening the center is to communicate with all women who migrated to European countries to organize and protect them."
