Turkey's HDP ban runs into Kurds political exterminations

The bid by Turkey to close and ban Peoples' Democratic Party, the HDP, is being considered as "political extermination" against the Kurds, but the popular attitude towards this policy in Northern Kurdistan and Turkey may be an important factor to the success of Turkish attempts, and failure the Turkish attempts.

In another wave of Turkey's political extermination efforts against the Kurds, Turkey seeks to close and ban the People's Democratic Party after thousands of its members have been arrested and imprisoned and Parliament has dropped membership from 15 party members , as well as the removal of elected party mayors as replaced by others.

On June 7th, 2021, Turkish prosecutors filed an indictment against Peoples' Democratic Party with the Constitutional Court, calling for the closure of the party and a political ban on some 500 members.

The party is the third force in Parliament, and the second in opposition within the Turkish Parliament, with millions of votes cast, especially in Northern Kurdistan, and a near 12 percent vote in the last Turkish elections.

Furthermore, according to administrator at the center of the Democratic Union Party in Kobani Canton, Nusra Darwish, "the goal of the Turkish state in efforts exerted to close People's Democratic Party is to annihilate the Kurdish people politically, regardless of Turkey's decades-old policy of extermination against the Kurds."

Nusra Darwish points out why the Turkish state's schemes failed to the ground one after another, "but Turkey will not be able to succeed with its plans because the policy of the Kurdish people of Northern Kurdistan is a popular policy based on the basis of the resistance of the revolutionary people and they resist and struggle on that basis."

Nausra stresses that the Kurdish people will continue the struggle against Turkish fascism, saying "They must, therefore, step up the struggle against Turkish fascism and support their party in every possible way because it is time for the freedom of the Kurdish people and Kurdistan in general."
