Suzdar Ahmed: Allouk station works in media, not in practice

The Co-chair of the Water Directorate in Hasakah canton clarified that the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries operate Allouk station only in the media, not in practice, stressing "The repetition of our appeals to the organizations, the international coalition and the Russian guarantor to neutralize the Allouk station remains unheeded."

Allouk water station is of strategic importance for Hasakah city, Tel Tamr district, and the southern areas of Hasakah, such as Al-Hol, Al-Arisha, Al-Shaddadi and Markada, in addition to the camps within the area, such as Al-Arisha, Al-Hol, Washokani and Serê Kaniyê Camps, where the number of residents who depend on securing drinking water from this station is more than one million.

"Allouk station works only in the media, not in practical"

Co-chair of the Water Directorate in Hasakah, Suzdar Ahmed, clarified during an interview held by Hawar news agency that the water crisis in the city is still ongoing, as a result of the Turkish occupation and its mercenaries' control of Allouk station, and the water pumping cut off from time to time, noting, "The occupation and its mercenaries operate the station only in the media, and not in practice because the station is working, but the water supply does not reach us."

Suzdar indicated that the productive capacity of the Allouk station per hour exceeds 6,000 cubic meters, but we receive only 6,000 cubic meters per day, and we need 4 or 5 days in order to fill the main tank at Al-Hemma station which has a capacity of 30,000 cubic meters.

She noted, "Therefore, every 20 days, one of the five sectors of Hasakah receives some drops of water because the water in the reservoir is very little and not enough for the city's needs, especially in the summer, and the people's need for water increases."

To solve the stifling crisis in Hasaka city and its districts, several humanitarian agencies and organizations intervened to re-pump water, including the Russian forces as the guarantor of the agreements that took place between the Turkish side and the Syrian Democratic Forces, but all attempts failed due to their lack of seriousness in resolving this issue.

Suzdar continued her talk about their appeal to international organizations to provide assistance to the Water Directorate and distribute water to neighborhoods and communes through tankers to reduce the burden on the people during the summer, she said: "Our request has been met by some organizations and they will start during the next few days."

The appeals of the Water Directorate and the people of Hasakah city to international organizations, human rights, the international coalition, the Russian guarantor and the active forces on the ground to neutralize the Allouk station and pump water to the city continue, and Suzdar Ahmed confirmed at the conclusion of her speech, "During the organizations' visit, we made several tours of the main stations in the city to make sure the reality of the water, but so far there has been no response from any party to put pressure on the Turkish occupation in order to re-operate the Allouk station in a way that meets the needs of Hasakah city."
