Southern Kurdistan authorities obstruct Human Shields Activity

The authorities of Southern Kurdistan prevented Kurdish activists from organizing the Human Shields Activity against the attacks of the Turkish occupation army on the areas of Southern Kurdistan.

The Patriotic Kurdistan Youth Movement and the Young Struggling Women's Movement were supposed to organize the Human Shields Activity against the attacks of the Turkish occupation army on Qandil areas.

Roj News Agency reported that the youth groups, with the participation of the residents, headed this morning towards Qandil mountains, but the Kurdistan Regional Government's Asayish Forces prevented the activists at the checkpoint in Singê Ser town, and did not allow the youth and people to cross to Qandil.

After the authorities prevented the convoy from crossing, the youth decided to continue their march to Qandil on foot, but the Asayis Forces prevented them from continuing the march.

The intervention of the Asayish Forces to prevent the youth from crossing resulted in injuring one of the young men lightly, and a journalist was intercepted and beaten while covering the march.

Meanwhile, the Peace Delegation from Europe was prevented from crossing to support the event with the aim of holding meetings in Southern Kurdistan as well.

The participants are currently gathering at the checkpoint, where they are expected to make a press statement on the matter.
