The Turkish occupation state, along with its mercenaries, has continued to cut off water from the city of Hasaka and its suburbs since the 12th of April from the Alouk station located in the occupied city of Serekaniye.

Alouk station consists of 30 wells and 8 pumps, and upon orders from the Turkish occupation state, only one pump and 3 wells are allowed to operate in exchange for the Autonomous Administration granting electricity to the station, but the water of these three wells is scarce and does not reach the neighborhoods of the city of Hasaka.

As a result of the people being forced to fill their household tanks from wells in the neighborhoods, most of which are not suitable for drinking, hundreds of children and city residents were exposed to cases of poisoning and diarrhea.

In this context, our agency met with the co-chair of People’s Hospital in Al-Hasakah, Dr. Muhammad Saeed Al-Abdullah, and said: “We are the administration of People’s Hospital in Hasaka, and through the statistics that we made in the ambulance department, it became clear to us that large numbers of poisoning and diarrhea cases arrived, especially after Turkish occupation state cut off water."

Muhammad Saeed al-Abdullah added: "Large numbers of poisoning and diarrhea cases arrive at the hospital, most of which are among children, and it is likely that water is the cause, because such numbers did not reach the hospital simultaneously before the water was cut off."

Al-Abdullah continued, "The water that reaches the people through civilian tanks is mostly unsuitable for drinking and use, as the water is filled from unknown sources."

Muhammad Saeed al-Abdullah noted that because of the lack of capabilities of some families, they fill water from household wells, which is not suitable for drinking and even use, as it causes poisoning and diarrhea in addition to skin diseases.

Al-Abdullah indicated that during the month of April, the number of cases reached about 616 cases of poisoning and diarrhea, while among children, it exceeded 400 cases between poisoning and diarrhea.

"There is also a lack of compliance by the families with health instructions, as the water is supposed to boil well and later on it is given to the children to avoid such cases," Al-Abdullah explained.

Al-Abdullah added, "During the Eid period, many cases arrived at the hospital, and they were as follows: cases of poisoning among adults 73, cases of poisoning among children 10, cases of diarrhea among children 30 cases, and among adults 24 cases, so the total number of patients reached 753 cases of poisoning and diarrhea since the city was cut off. "

Al-Abdullah appealed to international and humanitarian organizations to intervene and put an end to the Turkish occupation state.

For its part, the co-chair of the Water Directorate in Al-Hasakah canton, Sozdar Ahmed, said, "The city of Al-Hasakah is experiencing a humanitarian catastrophe due to water cuts from Alouk station or its operation with very little production capacity."

Sozdar Ahmed added, "We need two to three days to fill the tanks of the Water Directorate in order for them to be pumped to part of the city because the mercenaries do not operate all the wells and pumps in the station."

She indicated that with regard to cases of poisoning and diarrhea that occur among the people, its cause is attributed to use of household wells in the neighborhoods, which are not suitable for drinking or use as well.

Ahmad noted that they stated several times in the past that the water of domestic wells is contaminated water which cause cases of poisoning.

Ahmed called on the people to sterilize these waters by adding chlorine to eliminate all germs, so that they are only suitable for home use and not for drinking as well.
